- Lawrence C. 'Larry' Maynard, 90, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at James River Convalescent Center.
He was a native of Surry County and had been a resident of the Peninsula since the 1940's.
Mr. Maynard retired from Amoco Oil Refinery with the operations department after 25 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WWII and attended Parkview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by several sisters and one brother.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Betty Arms Maynard; sister, Rebecca M. Gwaltney of Waverly; one niece, Ann Scarborough; and several nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 24, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Peninsula Memorial Park, officiated by Brother Robert E. Rough. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
He is a second cousin of Shirley's Johnson's mother [4]
