The house was dismantled in 1977 after his daughter Doris Jean and husband Shirley Johnson built a brick ranch house behind it.
He owned farm called Gilliams (other side of Averys Mill Pond - now called Cockes Lake) when first married. All children except Doris Jean were born there. Family sold it to Continental Can in 1965, who later sold it to Carrolls Foods (hog farm) behind Marvin and Pat Padgetts.
